2019 in focus
New website
It was a labour of love for our team for many months, and in September, we were over the moon to launch our new-look website. Having had our previous platform for a number of years, we knew it was time to upgrade – but we wanted to make sure we maintained a straightforward navigational experience for customers who have been buying from us for a while. We improved our online shop by championing a simple, transparent ordering process; breaking down pack sizes; changing our pricing structure; and separating delivery costs from our unit prices.
As our Director, Matt Coussens, said in a press release announcing the launch:
“We’re very proud of what we have created, and we’re looking forward to receiving feedback on the new design from the people who matter the most to us – our customers. We’re especially pleased that we can now offer tips, tricks and insights via our blog, which we will be updating regularly. We suggest that customers follow us on Facebook and Twitter to receive links to our latest articles as soon as they are published.”
Launch of contract bagging services
By purchasing two state-of-the-art packing machines, we added a new string to our bow that will be sure to set us apart from many other landscaping suppliers.
Now, we offer comprehensive contract bagging and packing solutions to commercial clients with varying requirements. We can pack all kinds of landscaping materials, from building sand to rock salt and everything in between – and we can ship orders to any mainland location within the UK.
See our contract bagging machines onsite in this recent blog post.
Acquisition of two brand new forklifts
Towards the end of the year, we purchased two best-in-class Clark S35D forklifts from our long-standing suppliers, Stacatruc. The trucks – which were supplied with a range of additional features to meet our distinct needs - have streamlined our onsite operations and have been well-received by our yard staff.

ISO:9001 acceditation
In the spring, we proved our commitment to delivering an outstanding service to our customers by achieving sought-after ISO:9001 certification. We underwent a rigorous assessment process and implemented a range of operational changes to ensure we remain at the very top of our game.
BALI membership
Becoming a BALI Affiliate had been on our radar for a while, and in 2019, we finally registered with the UK’s leading trade association for landscaping professionals. Earning membership with this well-known institution has enabled us to promote ourselves as one of the best companies of our kind in the country - and our new status is bringing us plenty of exposure, too.
RISQS accreditation
Last but certainly not least, we maintained our certification with the Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme. This means we can continue to supply the British rail industry with approved track ballast, granite chippings, shingle and sharp sand, amongst other products.
What’s in store for 2020?
We’re keen to build on the success of 2019 by maintaining the certification we have achieved, raising the exposure of our new products and services, and continuing to invest in our staff, equipment and processes to remain at the height of our industry.
We have plenty of announcements in the pipeline, so be sure to keep an eye on our social media feeds for more Milestone news!
